Campsite in St Pierre Colamine


This common of Sancy which houses ”l’Ombrage”, 780 m above sea level, has the feature to group 11 boroughs none of which is named St Pierre Colamine.

During the creation of the municipality, to avoid any quarrel, the name of an old medieval village was selected : Colamine, which is located at the top of the Pic St Pierre.

The town is crossed by Couze Pavin, beautiful trout river that flows into the Allier to Issoire.

The Caves of Jonas, unique in Europe, are carved caves into the volcanic tuff before the Middle Ages (from the 3rd or 4th century AD and have sheltered the Templar Knights for a while; visits all year round.
